LEMON TREE BEACH BAR

Egyptian aesthetics meet Mediterranean hospitality, Voula 2024

The restaurant and beach bar, The Lemon Tree & Co, is situated on the shoreline of A’ Voula Beach and has been in operation since June 2024. It features 400 sqm of indoor space, including a kitchen and restaurant, alongside 560 sqm of carefully designed outdoor space, plus a beach area. Originally launched in Egypt, The Lemon Tree & Co has since expanded to several locations worldwide.

The design blends contemporary Egyptian aesthetics with the spirit of Mediterranean hospitality, drawing inspiration from the essence of the Greek summer. Visitors are introduced to the space in a gradual and immersive way.

The layout is organized to evoke a progression of sensory experiences, with the space revealing itself step by step. Upon entering through a large traditional Egyptian door, guests pass by an open kitchen, pause at an indoor bar at the far end of the space, and continue outside, where they encounter the dining area, an outdoor bar, and finally the beach and sea.

Inside, the use of stone, marble, and raw wood sets the tone for the experience that unfolds in the outdoor space. The materials, colors, and textures reflect a blend of global influences brought together in this project.

After the initial indoor introduction, visitors are led to the outdoor area, where the pergola space takes center stage. More than just providing shade, the pergola is designed to create distinct areas with unique qualities. It is slightly elevated, with two levels that alternate between wood and concrete.

The soft curves of the design invite guests to explore the space, with the pergola overhead mirroring the floor plan. The same curves divide the pergola into sections clad with various materials, such as wood and coir leaves. The unity of the pergola space is further enhanced by columns that seamlessly rise from the floor to the roof, where they join the geometries of the floor and ceiling and complete the connection of textures.

The architectural experience is further enriched by furniture and decorative elements handcrafted in Egypt, adding a touch of luxury and aesthetic from the opposite shores of the Mediterranean.
