Nestled in the coastal suburb of Voula, on the Athenian Riviera, OGEE Residence is conceived as a contemporary family home that responds equally to its Mediterranean setting and to the aspirations of modern living. Designed for a family of six, the residence balances openness and privacy through an architectural language defined by continuity, light and sculptural form.
The project’s identity is inspired by the ogee, the elegant double-curved profile that has been reinterpreted as the building’s primary architectural gesture. Rather than treating balconies as independent projections, the floor plates merge seamlessly into the façades, creating a continuous ribbon that wraps around the building. This fluid geometry softens the building’s mass while giving it a distinctive presence within the evolving urban landscape of southern Athens.
The sculptural envelope is more than a formal expression; it becomes an environmental device. Its flowing lines capture the changing Mediterranean light, cast deep shadows that animate the white surfaces throughout the day, and evoke the movement of sea breezes and the gentle rhythm of the nearby coastline. Architecture, light and landscape become inseparable elements of a single composition.
Large openings and curved glazed corners dissolve the boundaries between inside and outside, allowing natural light to penetrate deep into the living spaces while framing uninterrupted views towards the Saronic Gulf. At the same time, the carefully modelled façade creates layers of privacy, filtering views from the surrounding neighbourhood without compromising openness or transparency.
The interplay between solid and void gives the residence its spatial richness. Double-height terraces, recessed outdoor rooms and sculpted balconies generate a sequence of spaces that continuously expand and contract, creating moments of shelter, openness and discovery. This three-dimensional composition extends beyond the building envelope, integrating architecture with landscape, water and outdoor living into a unified spatial experience.
Inside, the architecture embraces a calm and timeless material palette, allowing proportions, natural light and carefully crafted details to define the atmosphere. Every space has been designed to foster effortless family life while maintaining a strong visual connection with the surrounding landscape, reinforcing the Mediterranean way of living where interior and exterior coexist seamlessly.
More than a private residence, OGEE Residence is an exploration of architectural continuity. It demonstrates how geometry can transcend aesthetics to shape experience, transforming a family home into a sculptural landmark that embodies movement, elegance and a lasting sense of place.
